Overview

Here's a quick summary of mine and Brody's life together so far.

In late February of 2006, Brody and I were introduced at a USU basketball game through common friends. I had heard about him from some of his friends that I knew but never thought that he would be interested in me. However, I was surprised when he came up to me that night after the game and asked "do you ski?" I thought it was a very interesting way to begin a conversation, but he was so cute that I didn't even realize how weird the question was. And to make it worse, I don't ski, I snowboard. I was so worried that he wouldn't be interested anymore, but, nevertheless, he called me a few days later and we went to Beaver Mountain together!

I didn't want to date anyone too seriously at the time since I was only 18, but I knew I would be living in Alaska for the summer, so I figured it wouldn't matter how much we hung out because I really didn't think he would still be around when I came back from my excursion, so we were together almost everyday.

However, in April, Brody hurt his shoulder skiing and had to have surgery. Since he wouldn't be able to wakeboard, he decided to go to Chicago with his friends and sell pest control for the summer. Since we were both away from home, it was easy to not date anyone else, so we ended up talking almost every day.

One day, he told me he wanted to come visit me in Alaska "on his way home" from Chicago in August. That's when I knew it was getting pretty serious because plane tickets to Alaska are $600! But I didn't care because it had been so much fun talking to him on the phone that whole summer and getting to know him really well.

We did a lot of fun things together: We went whale watching, did lots of hikes, jumped in the freezing ocean, ate at all our favorite restaurants there and much more. That week was really probably one of the best weeks of my life! My friends said they have never seen me so happy.  That was when we said 'I love you' for the first time.

From there, I came home in October, we dated a little longer and got engaged on New Year's Eve day. It was a Sunday afternoon. He took me on a drive up Logan canyon to 2nd dam. It was so beautiful but very cold. We walked around the water on a little trail for a few minutes playing a game that we played when we went on hikes in Alaska- 20 questions. So he told me he was thinking of something and I had to guess what it is. I had an idea of what it could be but didn’t really want to say it.

So when we finally stopped at the edge of the water, he told me to look away from him at a guy who was fishing to get a clue. Being very confused, I turned around to ask him what he was talking about and he was on his knee with the ring in his hand. I thought it was very cute and it will be something I will never forget.

We got married on April 14, 2007 in the Logan Temple and it was perfect! Brody wanted to wear a top hat, cane and monocle so I figured it would be fun to have an old-fashioned themed wedding.

He couldn’t find a monocle but definitely rocked the hat and cane. I was a little worried about how it would turn out but I actually loved it! I thought he looked so awesome. We have loved our life together so far and we are so excited for what is still to come!

I think that other language comment before mine might have been dirty talk.

We went by your house tonight after climbing and checked out your cool playhouse. Salomon came out to play with us. I hadn't met him before. He's cute and very friendly!

Thanks for all your comments guys! This makes blogging even better! Jamie, I'm sorry I wasn't there when you came by! I can't even think of where I was... that playhouse is pretty scary- I think we are just going to tare it down. I hope Salomon wasn't too crazy, he loves meeting new people! Too bad you didn't see him before when he was a cute little puppy...
