On December 22, 2007, Brody and I bought a cute little Golden Retriever puppy for our main Christmas present! This was a very big deal for me because I never had a dog growing up. My mom was never a fan of dogs, or animals of any kid really. We did however find a kitty in an old barn in Millville which we kept for a few days but then had to give away. I did have a goldfish once, which committed suicide by jumping out of it's bowl while we were gone, and later, we got two angora bunnies named Cotton and Candy. The bunnies were a big stretch for my mom and her point was proven after a few weeks when we lost interest in them. One went CRAZY and would growl, hiss and bite at anyone who tried to touch it. So we had to get rid of him. We got the other one pregnant but it ran away before it had the baby bunnies and never came back, so who knows what happened to that one.

Anyway, after hearing for years that dogs are messy, smelly, and loud, they jump, bite and lick, you have to clean up their bathroom mess, give them a bath, and feel bad for leaving them alone, Brody some how talked me into getting one. He pointed out all the good things about dogs and said that he would take care of all the not-so-fun things, so that sounded good to me!

He also let me pick the breed, so I thought a Golden retriever would be perfect. Brody picked the name. Salomon comes from Salomon the ski company (which is his favorite) and King Solomon in the Bible. His sister Brittney has a shitzu which they named Moses; since their hair grows so long, they would grow out his beard but cut everything else, it was pretty funny! So we decided to follow that trend.

This is him now, he's a lot bigger, so not quite as cute anymore, but he's a pretty good looking adult dog. I love having someone to come home to whenever I get home before Brody. He is ALWAYS excited to see me (and anyone else for that matter) and keeps me company whenever I'm alone. He obeys really well and can even do a few tricks. My mom even likes him! We really love him and think it is so fun to have a dog!

Yeah for Salomon! He is such a good dog! One of these days, once your mom is an empty nester, she will surprise us all and get a little dog--a new "kid" of sorts--I know this will happen-she will even see this comment and probably deny it--but you watch--I'm right!
PS--love the goal list!
Oh my gosh! That is not the same dog! He is very very cute and when he is a little bit older I would love for him to be good buds with Emma. Hope you can hang in there until Brody gets back. I'm excited for Monday. Thanks for taking my Emma Loo Hoo for the weekend.
I'm not a fan of animals either. Maybe it's because we grew up on a farm and were surrounded by animals. Your dog looks like a nice dog though. We had a yellow lab (Amy) and she did take a lot of work, which as predicted, ended up falling to me. Ever since then, I've stood firm that no more animals are allowed in our house. Andy accused me of committing child abuse because I wouldn't let him get another dog. I guess he'll have to get one of his own some day, just like you!
Jessica- I've tried that many time with my mom since we got Sal, telling her to get one as a friend when everyone moves out, but I don't think it'll happen. She feels to bad to leave it all alone.
Von- that's funny that Andy refers to it as child abuse and yeah as soon as he gets married or moves out he can have one of his own! I think it's just hard to get smaller kids to take care of a dog, but it's not to bad when they're older.
I think he is so adorable. He was very friendly when we trespassed in your back yard. You should bring him over here some time. Milly LOVES dogs.
you're right- i did love little puppy saloman more than big puppy salomon- but you have to admit that i've made great strides in allowing a dog to even step foot through my front door. . . let alone hang out IN THE HOUSE for hours on end. i don't think i get enough credit for what a stretch it is for me :) and jessica, i will make you a one million dollar bet that i will NEVER own a dog. but that's cute of you to think i would! anyone who knows me really well will back me up on this bet
Oh Lee, How things in life can change! I've known several people that said they'd never get a dog--and funny how they have one now :) Just ya'll wait!
Your dog is so cute! If we weren't having a baby i would so get a dog! I dont really care what I have I just want it to be healthy! If We have a boy we love the name Rivers, and if its a girl we love Evie. We find out what it is in July and we can't wait!
