Beijing 2008 Olympics

Me and Brody absolutely loved watching the Olympics. We had the TV turned to Chanel 5 whenever we got a chance and I'm surprised that without having DVR to record things, we didn't missed any of the major events! Here's a list of all my favorites:

Top 3 fav events:

1. Gymnastics
2. Synchronized Diving
3. Volleyball

Top 4 fav athletes (obvious):

1. Michael Phelps

2. Shawn Johnson
3. Nastia Liukin
4. Usein Bolt
They are all amazing!

Most exciting race:

When the US barely beat France in the 400 m freestyle relay... It was awesome! I love how the French got caught saying "The American's? We're going to smash them! Well, suck on that France!
(I love when they show the camera from under water.)

Favorite gymnastics event:

Men's high bar- the flips they do when they let go of the bar look so hard and during one of the competitions, 3 men (I think all U.S.) in a row totally stuck their landing! I love it when gymnasts stick their landing. I think that's what made me like that event so much. (Look how high up in the air he is!)

Most insane gymnastics event:

Balance Beam- Balance Beam- How do they stay on that tiny thing?! And how do Nastia and Shawn ALWAYS stick the landing on all their crazy flips and jumps. It's fun to watch but it sometimes freaks me out just thinking about how scary and hard that would be.

Events I don't think should be in the Olympics:

- Rhythmic Gymnastics: They dance around with ropes.
- Badminton and Table Tennis: I'm pretty sure anyone could get good at those events pretty quick if they wanted to.
- Equestrian: It's the horse that's doing cool stuff, not the person. I'm sure it's hard to train the horse, but are the trainers even the ones that ride the horse? I still don't think it's Olympics worthy.
- Speed walking- (really?) They look pretty silly. If you haven't seen it, you HAVE to watch this video. It's worth it, I promise. The only clip I could find was 4 hours long, so just watch the first little bit. And there's a short commercial first.

Awesome events that used to be but are no longer part of the Olympics:
- Croquet
- Tug of War
- Rope Climbing

Here's some awesome videos of swimming and gymnastics highlights:

Shawn Johnson all-around beam final

I'm sad the Olympics are over. What are we going to do all night? I guess do homework since school started yesterday.... blah.

I feel such a void in my life when something I've been really invested in ends. I feel this way in the spring when all my shows end, and I feel this way now that the olympics are over. What am I supposed to do with an extra 4 hours a night? Clean, help the boys with homework? BORING! The countdown is on until the '10winter olympics!

Kylee I am still dying over how cute your hair is. I showed it to Julie and she loves it too. You totally look like Katie Holmes, except without that dazed over scientology brainwashed look. Sorry about the water, that stinks. Oh the joys of being a house owner. The olympics, good for you for getting into it. I had the DVR record it and then I would watch maybe 7 minutes of each event until I felt like I got a taste and then I would move on. I did watch all of the womens gymnastics and I really enjoyed that. I don't hav anything against the olympics, I just didn't get into it this year. I think the DVR can mess you up and make you take things for granted. Without it, like you guys, i's either all or nothing, good call on the all.

Actually, you look more like Suri Cruise, except hold the baby face, and the $1200 dresses she wears.

I love that you did this! Hilarious! My dad recorded like, every second of the Olympics, he's kinda weird like that. I'm pretty sure I'll be borrowing them to entertain myself. And maybe have a good cry. I'm so glad you guys were into it just like me! How cool are we!

Good review of the Olympics Kylee. I am still watching the closing ceremonies tonight as I got kind of busy this weekend. They were great and I can't wait for London 2012

I missed out on the first week of Olympics since we were in Utah and I dind't want to spend my vacation watching TV. I did however watch a lot when we got home. THe one's I'm the most sad I missed were all of Micheal Phelps (I didn't see any!) and the triathlon. I can't believe those ones you listed make into in the Summer Games. What about the BMX bike racing? I don't think that should be in there either. Hey, I like to speed walk, but I'm not sure about that one either. I'll have to check out the clip

We loved the Olympics too. My favorite race was also the relay. Ben and I were both jumping up and down yelling at the tv for them to win, it was AWESOME!!! Gymnastics is just so amazing to watch. The Olympics were awesome but I'm glad I can do something else, besides watch hours of it every night. Although, I am looking forward to the next one.

Thanks for the great links to the highlights. Sad it's all over. Now it's back to real life.
