Weekend in Prague

We finally had a chance to stay in Prague for the weekend and see all the main stuff here. Actually, we're still not done seeing everything and we only have 10 more days here! Time is going way too fast. Brody will be done with class next Tuesday and then we'll stay an extra 12 days just traveling. That's the plan, but for now here's a re-cap of the last weekend.

On Friday we went to the National Museum. We weren't allowed to take pictures but I had to sneak one because this is where part of Mission Impossible was filmed. You can see the security guy at the bottom of the stairs with his back turned... I had to be quick!

Next, we toured the Jewish Quarter's. There were about 5 synagogue's to tour, as well as an old Jewish cemetery which was awesome.

Saturday we took a trip to a town about an hour away called Kutna Hora where there is a famous church that houses bones from about 40,000 humans. The bones where found when the foundation of the church was being dug, since the grounds used to be a cemetery back during the black plague. The chandelier is made from every single bone in the human body.

Sunday after church we took a nice 3 hour walk around Prague and saw many things. We started the walk through a beautiful park where the trees were in bloom and smelled wonderful, and the view was breathtaking.

FYI: our apartment is right behind that big gold building.

We then went on to a garden outside the Czech Senate building where there were beautiful peacocks (even a white one!!) and a pond with tons of fish.

Finally, we went on to see the castle, inside and out. There was a 4 man orchestra playing music outside the castle, so we stayed and listened for a while. They were actually really good and very entertaining. {Check out the flute guys mustache. Brod was jealous}

We discovered that the spires that can be seen from almost anywhere in Prague actually belong to the cathedral on the castle grounds and aren't part of the castle itself. Nevertheless, it was GORGEOUS.

{We actually saw the castle on 2 separate trips if you're wondering why our clothes are different.}

It was a great weekend and we have really developed a love for this amazing city.

For next weekend, we have plane tickets to go up to Stockholm, Sweden to attend the temple, but we're waiting to hear whether or not we'll actually be able to go because of the Iceland volcano. I hope it works out!

Yes! I'm the first to comment :) LOVE this post. No wonder you guys are in love w/ prague. It's soooo beautiful. Now I'm depressed about living in Logan. . . It's great that you just stayed in town this weekend and still had so much to do. Funny that Brody is jealous of that moustache. Really? I guess I'm not that surprised :) Love how green everything is- that bone museum is unbelievable! You described it to me, but seeing it is amazing. How do people think up stuff like that??? I love on the left side you have pictures of places you've been! That's cool. I think on the cruise one you should say Mexican Riveria cruise. So it won't be confused w/ any future cruises you may go to other places. . . can't wait for the next post

What fun! That bone place is freaky! What a wonderful adventure for you two. I think it goes without saying that I'm very jealous, so I'll try to stop saying it everytime. :)

Kylee I'm so happy for you to get to be having these experiences and cultural diversity! Few will ever have this opportunity. I love seeing your adventures. You seem to know so much about all these places you visit. Almost like you ARE the tour guide!
