Our first Thanksgiving without family...

...was a success!!  Since neither of our families came to visit for Thanksgiving this year (and we didn't go up to Utah, since we're going in 3 weeks for Christmas), we were left to fend for ourselves for the monster meal of the year, but "thank"fully it turned out really well!

We had Thanksgiving dinner with two other couples (Dan & Meghann and Robert & Melissa), so we split the food up between the 3 of us, which made it really easy.  Since we ate at our house, Brody and I were in charge of the turkey, as well as a few other side dishes.  I've never cooked a turkey before so I was a little nervous, but after much advice from others and many Google searches, I figured it out and it sure was tasty! (PS- cooking the turkey in an oven bag is the way to go!)

After our most scrumptious dinner, we chatted for a bit, watched Christmas Vacation, ate delicious pie and played Rock Band (Dan and Meghann's early Christmas present).  It was a fun-filled day and I'm so glad we had good friends to celebrate with!

Among all the many things I have in my life to be thankful for, I'm also thankful for this wonderful holiday where we can take a minute to recognize, ponder and pay tribute to all those many things.

Wow, the turkey looked great! Glad you had such a good experience on your own. I've been used to that now for many years.
