We spent the 4th of July the right way - by attending 4 BBQ's within 24 hours!! Yes, you heard me, 4 BBQ's. The first was Wednesday evening with the Care's and Yeadon's, then lunch on the 4th with our neighbors Mike and Valerie, then an in-between-lunch-and-dinner gathering with Matt and Amanda and finally dinner with the Wright's and Vincent's. It was awesome!! Sadly, I only got a picture of the last BBQ.
I made some yummy snacks for the day, which I thought turned out pretty well.
We hiked up a little hill by the Vincent's house to watch the fireworks that night. It was great because we could see 4 different cities fireworks all at the same time (most of them were far off in the distance, but it was still cool) and a handful of neighborhood fireworks as well.
{Did you notice the pattern? 4 BBQ's and 4 city's fireworks on the 4th of July} I just love this holiday!!
Slacklining
Brody's friend Nate stayed with us for a few days in July, so one afternoon, we headed to the park for some slacklining and relaxing. It was a beautiful day!
Lost purse
One day, I left my purse at a {sort of shady} restaurant for over an hour!! I was so relieved when I called to see if it was still there, and it was! I was happy to have it back, even if I did have to drive all the way back into town at 9:00 PM in my pajama's and wet hair.
Indoor Picnic
One weekend, we planned a really yummy picnic meal with our friends. We were planning to set up blankets at a park, eat our sack lunches and have a badminton tournament all evening. But once again, the silly weather ruined our plans. So we had an indoor picnic instead. The food was still just as yummy and we played regular old indoor games instead of badminton.
My smart husband
I love how handy, resourceful and smart Brody is. We bought a new car last month (more pictures to come in a separate post!!) And he successfully took out the entire stereo system and installed an AUX cord so we can play our ipods/iphones in the car. This process involved ordering a special part, drilling holes and changing all sorts of wires. He's awesome!!
A very rainy month
Speaking of rain, you may have noticed that it comes up in a lot of my activities that I talk about. That's because a good portion of them were changed or ruined in one way or another because of rain. This has officially been the weirdest summer I've ever seen (compared to last year anyway, and for being a state that's NOT located in the northwest U.S.) I think out of the 31 days in July, it rained for at least 10 minutes (if not more) in the afternoon for probably 29 of those days. I'm not exaggerating. Sometimes it was just a sprinkle but other times it was a down pour. Other than ruining plans every once in a while, it's actually been pretty nice. It's always bright and sunny before and after the little rainstorms and it sure kept the temps nice and cool during one of the hottest months of the year. Plus, we haven't had to water our lawn hardly at all!
Well, August is packed full of visitors and getting back to real life with my job at the school. It'll be a busy month to say the least and I'm sure it'll go by in a flash!

What a fun post! I can't believe how many BBQ's you went to in 24 hours!! Your 4th of July treats are really cute. I am so glad that you got your purse back- that is the worst feeling!! Brody is such a handy guy.. maybe I should have him put in an aux cord in my car for me too. This whole time I've had my car, I didn't even know that could be a possibility. Bummer! That is crazy that it has rained so much there and that it always puts a damper on your parties! ;)
Your have some mad slacklining skills! Truly- that is impressive for both of you. Losing a purse is the worst- remind me to tell you what happened to Josie's. Your weather this summer has been so crazy. I want a summer like that- but only if I don't have something fun planned! I love your 4 BBQ's for the 4th. I'm guessing that will never happen again by accident.
Super fun adventures you've been up to lately. I am sorry I don't keep up on the blogs, I just check them from time to time. I am almost pleased to see so many photos of so many activities, then I don't feel like I'm missing out on your life :) Love all the adventures you have and all of the fun things you guys do. You guys are definitely making great use of your time :)
