Random things.

I can't believe how short this last winter was. It didn't really get cold and snowy till mid December, and now, in mid March it's already very warm. So, to take advantage, Brody and I, along with Ryan and Lindsey went up Logan canyon and for dinner on Friday night. We had tin foil dinners, dutch oven cobbler, and s'mores. It was so yummy and it was great to be outside with only a thin jacket. It did get pretty cold though once the sun went down, but the fire kept us warm. When we got there, we discovered there was a lot of garbage from during the winter that hadn't been cleaned up yet. One item in the pile was a ski boot, and of course, being guys, Brody and Ryan thought it would be fun to burn it-- so we did. And it actually burned all the way into nothing! It was pretty cool...

Last night, we went to see the movie "Knowing" after a scrumptious dinner at Cafe Sabor with our friends Brett and Emily. The movie was pretty good but extremely scary and not really what I was expecting. It ended up being an end of the world type movie which is great but I will never again see that type of movie during a wind storm. The wind outside was so strong that it sounded like the theater was going to collapse. It was loud enough that every person watching the movie was looking around and whispering loudly. I was scared for my life! I thought it really was the end of the world in real life!

Brody is awesome, I just have to say that. He bought a road bike at the D.I. for about $15 and then put about $60 into it to make it an awesome bike! And he did it all himself! It looks great and I'm just amazed that he could figure all that stuff out. He turned it into a single speed, got a new saddle, fixed the handle bars and breaks, and much more. He rides it all around now and looks freaking hot on it!

HE GOT IN!!!

Brody just checked his e-mail a minute ago and found out that
he got into Thunderbird!!! We're moving to Arizona!!!
We are so excited and so happy to finally know what we'll be doing for the next few years. He actually got into the higher program which he wasn't expecting-- the 2 year MBA program rather than the 1 years master's program. So we'll be moving to Glendale, Arizona in August and staying for 2 years!! I'm so excited to live there again and to be on our own for a little while before we have kids and all that. Of course we'll miss our family and friends but it'll be good for us. Here's what the e-mail said:

"We just had the pleasure of doing the final review of your application for admission and now have the pleasure of inviting you to join the Fall 2009 entering class for the Traditional MBA Program - congratulations!"

When Brod read the e-mail I was right in the middle of brushing my teeth so I was screaming and jumping around with toothpaste dripping down my face. Also, Sal was going crazy and jumping around as well. I guess he's excited too!

Found.

Here's just a quick (well not really) update of random happenings in our life:

I found my wedding ring!! Well actually my mom did. It was way down in the cracks of her couch where I had been sitting the night it was lost. I know it wasn't just by chance that she happened to have the thought come into her head at 11:00 at night while she was in the middle of getting ready for bed to go down and search the couch. I'm so grateful for these little miracles that often happen and for my mom for following that prompting. Even though it was pretty late when she found it, my mom thought it was a big enough deal to drive down to my house and give it to me rather than just call and tell me. I was so glad she did that, but at the same time, she scared me to death! I was all alone that night (I had just gotten home from work and Brody was still rock climbing) and I wasn't expecting anyone to come to my house, especially not at 11:00 at night. So when I heard a light knock on my door and Salomon started growling, I was more than just a little scarred. I thought it was some scary man or something coming to kill me. But I opened the door anyway and was glad to see that it was my mom and not a stranger. (we really need to get one of those doors with a peep hole). Thanks so much mom for listening to the spirit and finding my ring!

Recently, I started making a blog book. I have stopped writing in my journal (as I have mentioned a few times) thinking I would just print off all my posts instead. It's a lot harder and more time-consuming than I was planning on, but I actually quite like it. I like organizing things to make everything fit- which is what I have to do make the pages look nice.

We still haven't heard from Thunderbird about whether or not Brody has been accepted. They say it usually takes about 6 weeks to get everything reviewed and the 6 week mark from when he turned in his application is tomorrow. So we're hoping to get something by the end of this week!! I'm excited to find out which way our life will be headed in the next few months and I will be extremely happy with wherever we end up living. Although, I hope for Brody's sake that he get's in!

The other night, Brody and I were so tired that we went to bed at about 7:00pm! I had been getting up for work at 5:00am the last three mornings and Brody had gone skiing for a while that day so after we ate dinner, we decided to take a little "nap" but when we woke up at 8:30 we just decided to go to bed. Who goes to bed that early (when you're my age and with no kids)? I'm pretty sure I haven't since I was an infant. I ended up waking up at what I thought was the middle of the night-- but it was really only midnight-- after having one of the scariest dreams of my life. These bad men were chasing me and I had no were to go and no one was helping me!!! I woke up sweating and almost crying. Now I'm for sure never going to open the door late at night when I'm alone.

On Saturday, me and Brody did a mini indoor triathalon, along with his friend Nate. It was pretty spur of the moment-- we didn't even know about it until the night before, but we thought it would be fun. And it was, but also a lot harder than I thought it would be. It was a 10 minute swim, 25 minute bike and 10 minute run. They just kept track of everyone's distance in that amount of time. (I came in second to last-- but hey, at least it's not the worst!). I had no idea swimming was so hard!! I could barely breathe! That one was definitely the hardest for me. Running was no easy task either since I made it a goal to not stop the whole time. I am not a runner at all so running for 10 minutes non-stop was a challenge. The biking wasn't bad though-- we just did it on the spinning bikes and they had an instructor telling us what to do: climb a hill, sprint, etc. I've been doing spin classes for the last little while so I did ok there. Brody of course did great and he never does any formal exercise (but I guess hiking up a mountain with all your ski gear once a week would put you into shape). He's just always been in good shape though, ever since I've known him. So it was a fun time, and a good work out!! I really want to train to do another one that's more for real this summer...

Speaking of skiing, the ski shop that Brody works at got shop ski passes this year (2 of them) and all the other 2 people that work there have their own season pass, so they were usually available. So it's been great to go skiing for free and whenever we want! We've been trying to go once a week and sometimes it happens twice but then Brody usually goes back country with Nate once a week as well. It's too bad that there's only been a few good days. Brody was loving life the day it snowed 8 inches one day and 19 the next! I wasn't able to go, but lucky for him, he could. I was however, able to go the day it snowed 8 inches and then 11... it was pretty good. That was the day Brody got that lovely snow beard. We always have a fun time together even though the snow hasn't been great this year. (P.S. I love Logan canyon especially after a snow storm... it is so pretty!)

A fun day date

The weather this winter has been so weird. It's been nice that it's been so warm but I've missed the pretty snow. (since when does is rain multiple times in February?!) Winter is just ugly when there's not fresh snow on the ground and trees very often. Well, Brody and I wanted
to get the most out of it anyway and take advantage of the warm weather
and snow before it

either melts or snows again, but is too cold. We also thought Sal needed some fresh air, exercise and a treat (he LOVES car rides) so we decided to go up to Tony's grove and play in the snow (most of the snow everywhere is melted!). It was so pretty up there and it was nice to just let S
al go and not worry about people or cars coming around. We brought his ball thrower and used it to throw snowballs. He loved it

and so did we, because we didn't have to do
anything but stand there, and he got worn out for the rest of the day. The snow was pretty crappy so about every other step he would sink down into the snow. I think he got pretty annoyed, well at least I would. Anyway, it was a fun little day date for me and Brod- we love taking drives up the canyon and we love being outside, so it was perfect. We love having days when neither of us have to work and we can just hang out.

P.S. Sorry, I know this post about our dog isn't very interesting to most of you, but there's not much else going on right now to post about...

Rock Climbing + Winter Time = Ice Climbing

We spent our Valentine's Day/President's Day weekend
ice climbing in Bozeman, Montana with our friends Nate and Kim and their friend Scott. (Poor guy had to be surrounded by us two married couples on Valentine's Day. We gave him some grief about it in a joking way and he took it really well, but I do feel bad about that). We stayed with Nate's aunt and uncle who live there and between the 5 of us, we had enough gear so that no one had to rent stuff so it ended up being a pretty cheap trip. I had never been ice climbing before but I thought it looked pretty easy and fun. However, I was very wrong. It was extremely hard and painful- which made it not quite as fun as I would have hoped! I had a charley-horse in the palms of my hands the whole way up the wall from gripping the ice ax and my fingertips were frozen because all the blood rushed out of my fingers from having them above my head for so long. It was still a good time though- The scenery was gorgeous! And when we weren't climbing, we had some good times talking, watching movies, taking a walk around the town, and one day, the boys went and did their favorite thing- back country skiing (the mountain they climbed was HUGE- it took them 4 1/2 hours just to get to the top...). So overall, we had ourselves a great time and it was a nice break from everyday life!

Here's the ice wall we climbed from the left side (the easier side)the right (harder) sideOn our hike up to the ice wall, I saw these weird looking "hair trees." I think it was moss, but to me it looked like hair. Here's some more scenery pictures- sorry, I really like taking pretty scenery pictures. On Valentine's Day night, the 5 of us went out to eat at a really yummy pizza place and then rented the movie Horton Hears a Who (which I thought was funny) while we drank sparkling cider (that the boys so sweetly thought to buy). Scott was supposed to look bored and alone with his fake beer in this picture- it was a set up that we thought would make a funny picture.
