Day 4

"Nature is the art of God."

Day 4 (Friday): Traveling and
Broadway/Baseball Game
Today mostly consisted of driving from D.C. to New York. We just slept in a little, ate breakfast and then left. It took about 5 hours including a lunch break. Again, the freeway was covered in trees on both sides 90 % of the way.. I love it!

Our hotel is actually in New Jersey and we plan to just ride the bus into N.Y. Everything went well until about 2 minutes after being at the hotel- We got locked out of our room! And not just by forgetting the key, but by the metal lock thing somehow shutting itself after we shut the door. Take a look at the picture.
So no one was inside and the only way to get those things unlocked is to shut the door tight and open the lock. We tried many things to try and get it opened before the maintenance guy came, including: using floss, a hanger, and a shoelace. We almost had it opened when he came, so who knows if it really would have worked.

The sky was gorgeous outside so I thought I'd take a picture...
After we got all that sorted out, we just hung out at the hotel for an hour playing games until it was time for the fun activities of night. The boys went to a Yankee's game and me, Jess and my mom went to Wicked, a Broadway show.
We tried to take our own picture of all of us in front of this sign, but it wasn't working out too well but we had fun trying...... finally we found someone to take it for us.
My mom was SO excited to see this, because she had seen it a few months ago in LA. I couldn't imagine how something could be so good that she would talk about it so much and be so excited.... but now I understand. I loved it! It's just a different side of the story The Wizard of Oz. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. I wanted to buy a Wicked souvenir afterwards, but those things are ridiculously expensive! $35 for a t-shirt, $15 for one of those rubber bracelets and $12 for a silly magnet. I couldn't bring myself to buy anything, so I guess I'll just have to go see the show again when it comes to SLC in April to remind myself of it!
It was a little scary being in downtown NY at night just us girls and we had a really hard time figuring out which bus to get on to go back to the hotel, but we made it through everything safe and had a really fun time together! Can you imagine if our roles would have been switched and we were alone at night in the Bronx where the boys where for the game?! Scary. Well it's fun to be in NY again, I came here 3 years ago with my choir group during my senior year of High School (this trip was the main reason I even tried out for choir). So I'm happy to be back, I love it here! (but just to visit).
Here are the boys at the game.

That's fun to go out and have a girls night. I would love to see Wicked when it comes to SLC. I'm glad that you're having so much fun. Trees lining the freeway reminds me so much of Portland, nothing beats it!
