Home Sweet Home

Quote of the Day: Having somewhere to go is called HOME, having someone to love is called FAMILY, having both is a BLESSING.

I just thought I'd share a little bit about our lovely house down on the island that we bought in December of 2007.

FAMILY ROOM:

The front room had lovely 70's mirrors from floor to ceiling on either side of the fireplace, and that yellow in the middle is some beautiful fake wood paneling that they had painted. The rock around the fireplace was different from the tile on the floor and it had an ugly glass covering. Also in this room there was a weird wooden something above the window and an UGLY brass "fan" with no blades.  This was the funnest/hardest room to fix up!

We had a lot of fun tearing down the paneling and mirrors. It was a very loud process; Brody would just let the mirrors fall to the ground after ripping them off... After we got everything ripped down we had Con come and do a cool venetian texture on the walls amidst the big mess of all our belongings. (p.s. It is NOT a good idea to move in prior to fixing up, it was a MESS!) We got a new fan, shined the hardwood, put in new tile around the fireplace and got new baseboards.

I love how this room turned out, I think it's my favorite of the whole house.

KITCHEN:
I forgot to take a picture of the cabinets before we started painting, but they were brown like all the doors. We took them off and painted them white along with the stove and the oven (I had no idea that you could buy appliance paint at Wal-Mart for $4 and make really old appliances look like almost new). We also got new handles for the cupboards which were way more expensive than I thought. This room was the biggest pain of them all!

BATHROOM:

THE OFFICE ROOM:

OUR BEDROOM:

There are still many things we want to do to the house but we just don't have the money. So for now, we're happy with how it is!

I LOVE what you guys have done to your place. So are you a fan of the fixer uppers? I think once you have done it you know if you like if or not. lots of time and money go into it. I cant decide if I would do another fixer upper though. It's fun to see the before and after pictures.. GREAT JOB GUYS!!

I know how hard and time consuming fixing up a house is! I also know how there is always more to be done. But I love when you finish something and you get to look at the results. It looks like you have turned your house into a beautiful HOME!

I saw your house when it was all torn apart and loved seeing the finished product. I can't wait to see it in person. Maybe next Monday? I'm proud of the both of you!

I just think your house is soooo darling!! You totally have "the touch." That picture of you in the kitchen is truly stunning, you look so exotic and lengthy. Also, the one of Brody about to crack your skull open is a classic as well. You guys are just too darling together.

Funny, when I saw the "before" kitchen, I thought, "Oh, I love those green cupboards!" That's the color I want to paint my kitchen! You seem to be good at painting cabinets, so maybe I'll have to put you to work!
