Flood

Ralph Waldo Emerson

So, the other night, we had a flood in our house, sort of. We bought a new faucet for our kitchen sink and Brody couldn't figure out how to turn the cold water off (the handle inside the house had broke) So he needed me to hold the hose where the water comes from into the garbage bin while he switched out the faucets. Well, anyone who is smarter than we are can see where this is going...

The water that comes out of that hose is so powerful that there was no way Brody could hook it back into the new faucet while the water was on so we decided that we just needed to find a way to turn the water off. So he got a flashlight and went under the house (the crawl space) to figure it out.

I stayed inside and kept filling up garbage cans with water- now I had two so I could switch off. Since I needed both hands to dump one bucket into the sink, in order to keep filling up the other bucket, I had to hold the water hose in-between my toes. One of the garbage cans was bigger than the other though, so when I filled it all the way up with water and then tried to lift it up to the sink to dump it, it was too heavy so I had to just dump some of the water out on the floor. Then when I went to dump the rest into the sink, I dumped it too fast and the water overflowed out of the sink and all over onto the counter/floor. What a mess!

It took Brody about 20 minutes to figure out how to turn the water off (it seemed like an hour!) and I probably filled each bucket up about 15 times each. By the time he got it off, we were both soaked (me from getting sprayed and dumping the water, Brody because he was under the house and the water was leaking through the floor) and there was about an inch of water in the kitchen, hallway bathroom and laundry room.

It was about 12:30 am when we got everything cleaned up. It's a good thing we don't have carpet, all we really had to do was take the rugs outside to dry and clean the rest up with towels. It was a crazy experience but now we can just laugh about it.

You can't really tell from these pictures, but everything is wet!

I'm glad you can laugh about it already. I had a good laugh just picturing it all.
It was fun to see a picture of that awesome green in your kitchen You will have to let me know the name of the color because someday I want to paint a room that same color.

OH NO!!! Thats not fun!

This comment is for Brody tho---Go to Lee's blog and look at the picture of the Starburst eating contest. Who is Stacey pointing at? There was no need for a tie breaker -- the proof is in the pic--I want a rematch!!!
