I've decided recently, to find something I can be successful in, something that I can work towards and excel in. I really do love supporting Brody in school and his other life achievements, but I think once in a while, I need to do something for myself as well. Since we don't have kids yet to challenge me and my job isn't really doing it for me (I love my job, it's just too easy and effortless), I decided to find something else. Well 2 something else's:
Learning another language- Portuguese
I found a free website online to help with learning another language (which I can do sometimes in my spare time at work) and then of course I have Brody to help me. It's been really fun so far, but I've only learned a handful words. I know it'll take a while until I can actually get good enough to use it, especially if I'm not around lots of other people who are speaking Portuguese constantly, but at least its something to work towards.
AND
Becoming a fancy (wedding-type) cake decorator (to hopefully make some sort of an income with later in life).
I've been wanting to do this for a while now. I want it to become my little "hobby-that-I-can-also-make-money-from" thing. So.... I signed up to take Cake Decorating classes. I start next Tuesday, and I can't wait! I'm not sure if these classes will teach me everything I need to know, but it's a start and hopefully I can find a way to keep getting better. I am so excited to someday be able to make cakes like these:
I know, some of these are probably WAYYY to elaborate for me to ever be able to do, but I still find it so exciting!!

Those cakes are beautiful! I was at a Bridal Faire today and there were some amazing cakes. Both of my wedding cakes were NOT what I had ordered, so my advice as a former bride is make sure you get your order right! I think you'll do great. What's the website for the languages?
I took cake decorating many years ago and loved making cakes for my girls birthdays. I've forgotten those skills though! Now cakes are such works of art. What a great idea...have so much fun learning.
I'm so impressed with you! I can't wait to hear how the classes go, and to hear you speak some portugese (sp?)
Way to go Kylee! That is awesome you are finding something that you can do for you! you are going to really like this when you start having kids! I am impressed!
Good for you! Seriously. Way to push yourself. Good luck with both of them. They are no small tasks that you have chosen here. Start with birthday cakes, people have less expectations for those to be PERFECT, then work your way up. Come up with a magical Christmas cake, be working on it, and then debut it when you come home for the Holidays and we'll come up and I will eat most of it.
yay! so cool! you will be so good at that! I would like to reserve you now for my next special occassion...tbd, but just be waiting and preparing for it...thanks :)
That is way cool Ky! That will be a fun skill to have.
That will be awesome Ky! Cake decorating looks perfect for you. I love watching all those cake decorating TV shows on TLC. Good luck with class!
