Quick weekend in Utah

Last weekend, I zipped over to Utah for a very quick trip (2.5 days) because my BFF from high school - Maryn Lee got married!  It was a little tricky for me, because the wedding fell during the first week of school, but somehow I managed to get a day off in order to attend the wedding.  I'm so happy it worked out!

I flew by myself and got there very late Thursday night and left Sunday afternoon.  Even though it was a short trip, I packed in a lot of stuff and was able to visit quite a few people.

Friday - Wedding Day
I spent all of Friday attending wedding festivities (temple sealing, luncheon and reception) and visiting, catching up and reminiscing with my other high school friends who were also at the wedding.  There was a group of 6 of us who were really close in high school, but unfortunately, not everyone could attend every wedding event that day, so even though I did get to see all 5 gals, we were never all 6 together at the same time.

4 of us with the beautiful bride (just missing Jamie!)

Reception festivities - throwing the bouquet, cutting the cake, sparklers at the end and,
the worst part - the poor bride and groom standing in line all night

Me and Maryn - I'm so happy for her!!

Saturday
I started the day with a beautiful hike to the wind caves with my parents and sister.  I love Logan Canyon and I miss how close it is and how much there is to do.  Oh and also that the activities are free (here in Colorado, you have to PAY to go on most hikes - it's ridiculous)

After that I went to a huge family reunion that Brody's mom's side of the family just happened to be having that day.  It was great to visit with Brody's sisters and my niece and nephew.

Next, I headed to the salon for a haircut.  I love the short style much more than last time I did this. Not sure why.

Later that evening, I went with my fam and the Bundy's up the canyon (again) to have tin foil dinners.  It rained on us for about 20 minutes, but we stuck it out and ended up having the place to ourselves and a fantastic (dry) rest of the evening.

To end the day, me Jess and mom took a soak in the hot tub.

It was a great day!

Sunday
Went to church in the morning, visited Brody's mom, had a bunch of relatives over for dinner, then headed back to the airport.

I had a great weekend!!

Side note: We found this bat on the ground at the temple while taking pictures after the wedding.  Not something you typically see during daylight.  Poor guy.

Hurray for how much we were able to pack into such a short trip! I'm so happy you got to come. You forgot to talk about your horrifying airplane ride on Thursday. . .

What? How have I missed these last few posts!!? So sorry about that! I think I actually did comment on this one, but it was on my phone so it must have not worked. BUMMER! I am so glad you were able to come even if it was just for a couple days. I am so glad that I was home! Maryn looked so beautiful for her wedding, as did you! Hiking the windcaves was so much fun and I LOVE your new haircut! And... I can't believe you found a bat, crazy!!
